Phase 2 Appeal Update

Railway museum and exhibition buildings

Our fund raising is now firmly focused on the phase 2 Mountsorrel Railway Museum and Exhibition buildings in the base of the old quarry. The museum will allow historic railway vehicles from the old Mountsorrel quarry to be displayed to the public and the exhibition building will tell the story of the geology of the Charnwood Forest, the history of quarrying in Mountsorrel and the story of the Mountsorrel Railway.

We are working towards our match funding target of £8500 for the phase 2 museum grant. We will need to pay the match funding amount on the 30th September (assuming that the grant is awarded…)

A generous past supporter has very kindly offered to match any donations received between now and 30th September, up to a maximum value of £3000, on condition that the funding total is reached in full. So a £50 contribution would be worth £125 after Gift Aid! This same supporter helped us in a similar way a few years back when we had to raise money quickly to secure the track to re-lay the branch line, which was a tremendous success, so let’s hope for the same success this time round.

So far (to 13th September, including gift aid and matched funding) £5,975 has been raised, so we still have £2,525 to go.

Our sponsor a brick appeal is still open. For £50 you can sponsor a brick in your own name, the name of your family, a deceased loved one or as a present for a grand child or other family member.

If you would like to donate to the Exhibition and Museum Building fund then we have a Donation Form with a Gift Aid Declaration for you to complete.
