Branch line trains Feb to Mar 2023

We are thrilled that the Great Central Railway will be running passenger trains on the Mountsorrel branch line again from the end of February! It’s two and a half years since trains last ran on the line and three and a half years since they last ran all the way to Bond Lane.

Trains will be running over five consecutive weekends (25th Feb to 26th March) between Mountsorrel Station on Bond Lane, the Heritage Centre (Nunckley Hill), Rothley and Leicester North. See the GCR website for further details of the rolling stock in use, daily timetable, and how to book your daily rover tickets (£12 adult, £7 child) in advance.

Please note that from Saturday 18th February we will be introducing a small charge of £2 per adult, £1 per child (2 to 15 years) to access the site beyond Granites Patio.

If you park at the Heritage Centre you will need to pay this entrance fee to access the platform. Parking (for 20+ cars) and access to the trains is free from our Bond Lane car park.

If you leave the train at the Heritage Centre you will need to pay a reduced entrance charge of £1 per adult, 50 p per child to access our site. Please remember that dogs are NOT allowed on the site.

Please note the change to the timetable. Not all trains stop at Nunckley Hill for the Heritage Centre.
