The site and Granite’s Coffee Shop is open from 10 am every day. We close at 4:30 pm and the car park gates are locked at 4:45pm. Please note that Granite’s Coffee Shop and the Heritage Centre Site are closed from the 24th of December to the 1st of January, reopening on January the 2nd, every year.
Entrance to Granite’s Coffee Shop, the Heritage Rooms within the main Heritage Centre building and Granite’s Patio is free.
Entrance to the site beyond the patio, such as the Garden Railway, Crazy Golf, the quarry, nature trails and museums incurs a small charge of Adults: £2.50, Children (1 yrs to 15 yrs): £1.50, No Concessions. Higher entrance fees apply during some special events. See What’s on Page for details.
Several of our attractions are operated by volunteers so we cannot guarantee that all areas of site will be open. Some attractions, such as the Garden Railway, do not appreciate bad weather, hence these may be subject to favourable weather conditions.
Terms and Conditions For Visitors
All visitors accessing the site beyond the Granite’s patio require entrance tickets, which can be purchased either at the Granite’s counter, or on high days at the sales table on the Granite’s patio.
Entrance tickets are only valid on the day of purchase and take the form of stickers that must be worn by the purchaser. As long as your entrance sticker remains visible, then this allows unlimited entry in and out of the site for that day. Tickets are not transferable and lost tickets may need to be purchased again to regain access. Entrance tickets are not refundable.
Due to mechanical or other problems, advertised attractions running on a particular day may have to close, be changed or be substituted with little or no notice. If you have come specifically to see a particular attraction, please check with the entrance ticket sales person that the attraction is operating before buying your tickets, as no refunds for entrance fees will be given.
Any persons under the age of 12 must be accompanied into the site by a responsible paying adult. Children in your care must be supervised at all times, due to the presence of shear rock faces, moving railway and other vehicles and other potential hazards.
Visitors should always be kind and courteous to our staff and volunteers, just as our staff and volunteers will always be to our visitors. No violent or aggressive behaviour from visitors towards our volunteers or staff, either verbally, physically or by other means, will be tolerated. We have a zero tolerance policy in this respect and visitors behaving disrespectfully will be told to leave and will receive a permanent ban from visiting the site. We reserve the right to refuse admission.
The Heritage Centre does not accept responsibility for loss or damage to visitor’s personal items, property or vehicles whilst visiting the site.
The site is a working museum. We encourage visitors to immerse themselves in our history through historic train rides and recreations. Historic railway and road vehicles can be oily, produce smoke and noise, it is not possible for the railway vehicles, or the area around them to be completely clean, so please be aware that there is a small risk of visitors coming into contact with dirt. Visits to locomotive cabs and foot plates presents an even higher risk of getting dirty. The Heritage Centre cannot be held responsible for any dirt on clothing resulting from visitors experiencing our working museum.
Large parts of the site exist in a natural environment. Be careful of uneven ground, tripping hazards and thorny plants and nettles whilst walking our nature trails.
Purchase of a game of Crazy golf is for one game. Clubs and balls should be returned to Granite’s when your game is completed.
In the event of a visitor needing to cancel or failing to arrive on time for a pre-booked paid activity event, such as Christmas Wreath Making workshops, no refunds or credits are given.
The Heritage Centre car park is strictly for the use of visitors to Granite’s coffee Shop, the Heritage Centre and Mountsorrel Railway, whilst they are present at the site. Persons using the car park for other reasons are subject to a parking fine being issued.
The car park gates are locked at 4:45pm. Any vehicles remaining in the car park after that time can be collected from 10am the following day that the Heritage Centre is open.
Purchase of Peace Garden Memorial Plaques have specific Terms and Conditions. There are detailed on the plaque order form.
