This nationwide award was determined by an online public vote. Nationally there were 5,813 projects, of which 395 were award winners. Based on the number of votes for a single project Mountsorrel Railway ranked 47th of the 395, placing it well inside the top 1% of the projects that entered the competition. An amazing result, especially considering the project was still relatively unknown at that time, which was rewarded with a prize of £6,250 that went towards the cost of rail and sleepers.
