MS & LR No. 946 arrives at Mountsorrel

GCR 946 arrives at MARCH

We have taken delivery of a very special railway coach, MS&LR No. 946. Built by the Manchester Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway in 1888, before becoming the Great Central Railway in 1897, it has taken 16 years to restore from derelict condition and now looks amazing. Some of you may have seen it featured on BBC1 East Midlands To-day and on the BBC News website. The coach is “Dedicated to the Fallen and Injured Employees of the Great Central Railway in the Great War 1914-18”.

It took over two hours to transfer the coach from the low loader to our railway museum. You can watch the various stages in the video below.
